It was on August 17, 1717, that King Friedrich Wilhelm I of Prussia granted them permission to hold services in private homes. By November 1 of the same year, they received authorization to construct a modest chapel.
Despite their limited resources, the Catholic community completed the chapel in 1722, dedicating it once again to St. Mauritius. This timber-framed church, located on Große Straße, measured 7 meters in height, 32 meters in length, and 15 meters in width. It wasn't until 1756 that they were allowed to install an organ, and in 1784, they acquired bells, adding to the church's charm and functionality.
By 1828, the original church had deteriorated to the point where a new construction was necessary. The new church, built from Ibbenbüren sandstone, was consecrated in 1831. The cross was placed atop the tower on October 31, 1833, marking a new chapter for the parish.
In 1949, four new bells named Maria, Mauritius, Joseph, and Aloysius were installed, each carrying a unique tone and purpose. These bells were hoisted through the tower's portal side and lifted into place through the turret clock's opening.
The interior of the church was further enhanced in 1952 when Telgte artist Ludwig Baur created a magnificent mosaic of Christ that adorns the wall behind the altar. This artwork was meticulously cleaned during the church's renovation in 2001, restoring its vibrant colors and intricate details.

In Easter 2006, the parishes of St. Mauritius and St. Maria-Magdalena in Laggenbeck merged to form the parish of Ss. Mauritius-Maria-Magdalena.
