The history of Pfarrkirche Hl. Sebastian is as layered and intricate as the architecture it boasts. Originally a filial church of Bregenz, it was elevated to the status of a local chaplaincy in 1430 and became an independent parish in 1646. The earliest mention of a chapel on this site dates back to the early 15th century. In 1499, a cemetery was established to honor the fallen from the Battle of Hard, marking the site as one of historical significance.
The church underwent significant transformations over the centuries. In 1684, under the guidance of Balthasar Brill, a new church was constructed, and by 1721, a tower was added to its structure. Further modifications took place in 1862, focusing on the choir and tower. The current nave, designed by architect Leopold von Claricini, was consecrated in 1876, adding a neo-Romanesque flair to the structure. The tower received an additional upper structure in 1882, and a major restoration was carried out in 1980 based on plans by architect Hans Purin.
The Pfarrkirche Hl. Sebastian is a neo-Romanesque marvel, characterized by its east tower and harmonious design. The hall-like nave, with its central and side aisles, is unified under a single gabled roof. The side aisle walls feature five round-arched windows set within blind niches, separated by slender pilaster strips. The northern and southern facades boast portico entrances supported by four columns, while the side aisle ends are rounded apses crowned with conical roofs.
The west front of the church is a visual delight, with recessed side aisles featuring round-arched portals within blind niches and a round-arched window above a cornice. The central nave is framed by wall pilasters, and the gable field showcases a round arch frieze. The main entrance is adorned with a tympanum and a wooden door with lion ring handles, adding to its grandeur.
The gabled portico boasts a barrel vault on columns and a round-arched niche with paired round-arched windows. The recessed choir, with its saddle roof and side rosette windows, adds a touch of elegance. To the south of the choir stands a two-story sacristy, accompanied by a newer single-story annex. The two-story tower, with its gable spire helmet, is a prominent feature at the choir's apex, with three round-arched sound openings in the high lower story and paired round-arched sound openings in the upper story.

Inside, the church is a symphony of neo-Romanesque design elements. The three-aisled, five-bay nave features a high central nave and lower side aisles, all adorned with diamond-patterned cross-ribbed vaulting. The transition from the central nave to the side aisles is marked by arch arcades with profiled round bars on columns and capitals decorated with neo-Romanesque acanthus and cross-flower motifs. The chancel arch in the central nave has two strong round ribs with hollow grooves.
The altar wall, set within the chancel arch, hosts a crucifix dating back to around 1700. In the right side apse, a statue of Mary with the Child from the late 18th century stands gracefully. A figure of St. Sebastian from the early 18th century and early 20th-century Stations of the Cross further enrich the church's artistic offerings. The organ, crafted by the Reinisch-Pirchner organ building company in 1961, adds a melodious dimension to the sacred space.
Surrounding the church to the south and east is a tranquil cemetery, expanded in 1899 and 1957, offering a serene final resting place for the local community. A mission cross from 1871 and a war memorial, created in 1930 by Friol from Bregenz, featuring a cross with two mourning women, stand as poignant reminders of the past.
